Things are heating up...

The 'fifth tennis major' is under way in Indian Wells and has already reached the quarter final stage. Roger Federer was coming back from a six week break after his disappointing loss at the Australian Open and Andy Murray was also coming back from illness. All of the top four players are still in the tournament and things are really starting to heat up. Federer has been showing good form only dropping the one set yesterday to Fernando Gonzalez. So it has been a good comeback to the tour from the Swiss maestro. He next faces Fernando Verdasco who was also coming back after a six week beak and has been showing some awesome form during the tournament. This should be a real test for Federer and if he wins he is likely to meet Murray who is playing against Ivan Ljubicic as I am writing. In the top half of the draw Novak Djokovic beat Stanislas Wawrinka in two tie breaks and will next meet Andy Roddick who beat David Ferrer. That should be aother interesting encounter with both players playing well. World number one Rafael Nadal is also still in the tournament and next faces Juan-Martin Del Potro. The top four players in the world making the semi-finals now looks like a distinct possibility and would make for some terrific tennis. Men's tennis looks to be in great shape and there is very little to choose between the top four at this point. |
