Jesus Christ

By Ru-an Zietsmann

Recently i came across a forum post asking why did Jesus attract so much suffering to himself when he was in control of the law of attraction and whether people believed if the whole crucifixion story was true. While i don't believe everything in the Bible is 100% accurate I do believe that the crucifixion of Christ happened.

My answer to the post was that the law of attraction is only one universal law and if you are going to try to explain everything in terms of the law of attraction you are going to make things hard for yourself. I believe the message of Christ was one of surrender and non-resistance, and ultimately one of love.

Christ was an elightened being, he did not differentiate between friend and foe. He lived beyond duality and loved all things equally. He saw only perfection and the utter maginificance of the universe that we live in. We mortals believe very differently, we believe in imperfection and is incapable of looking past the apparent imperfections that surround us.

And because we believe this way we tend to project the same thing onto someone like Christ. We either say the whole Christ story is a myth or we put him on a peddastool and call him the son of God, therefor taking away all personal responsibilty to be like Christ. You see Christ made it utterly clear that everyone else could do what he did and more.

He never claimed that he had a monopoly on miracles or anything of the sort. In truth we are all capable of being like Christ. But in the society we grow up in that kind of thinking is not encouraged. Far too many people don't ever think for themselves, they are content with others telling them how it is when it comes to the larger questions of life, or they just give up on these questions.

I believe most of what Christ came to teach has been lost because of how religion has indoctrinated people. Christ taught that we should love all things equally by the way he lived, do we not live out the opposite of this teaching? We are constantly judging each other who are not like us and does not conform to our worldview. When will we learn that we are all one and that by hurting others we are just hurting ourselves?

We fight those who offend us and harbour revenge. We seem to have learnt nothing whatsoever from the life of the greatest teacher in history. We celebrate the birth and resurrection of Christ but it means nothing if we don't live by the same principles as Christ did, which is love thy neighbour. Such a simple teaching yet as a human race we find it all but impossible to follow.

The time has come for mankind to take the message of Christ seriously, too much damage has been done and we have lived in hate and conflict for too long. Lets get rid of all the religious dogma and realize that we are one under God. Lets not cause our planet and each other any more harm and live out the message Christ teached us by sacrificing his life. Let us live in love and peace.
