And then there was four

We are down to the last four at the Indian Wells tennis tournament which means semif-final time of course. Roger Federer will play against Andy Murray, while Rafael Nadal will be up againts Andy Roddick, who is the only player outside of the top 4 to have made it to the semi-final stage. He did so by upsetting Novak Djokovic is emphatic manner. Murray holds a 5-2 head to head record over Federer, but has lost to Federer when it counted most. Federer will however want to show that Murray can't keep dominating him the way he has. Murray has been having problems with a virus since the Australian Open and had to take time out from the tour before Indian Wells so this might be a good chance for Federer to get one back over him. In the other semi-final Nadal will be the favorite to beat Roddick. Roddick's strength which is his serve will be mostly neutralized by Nadal's returns, which is possibly the best in tennis. Nadal will be too consistent from the base line for Roddick and Roddick won't have the attacking capabilities to beat Nadal. Will we see yet another Nadal/Federer final? It's almost becoming a given these days. Federer is playing his first tournament since the disappoiting loss at the Australian Open and he looks to be in good form. If he can win this tournament he will go a long way towards shutting the mouth of critics saying he can't deal with Nadal. But first he has to beat Murray, which will be an accomplishment in itself. |
